You have to face the fact that Texas is a big
state with a lot of different bureaucratic agencies that keep public records.
254 counties all with their own set of records not to mention the federal,
state, and municipalities that keep public data in different databases and files
makes finding specific records something of a thankless task; at least doing it
the old way.
Let’s take a look at how this used to work if you were looking for say Texas
court records. You would need to contact each court house in which there were
records for a particular individual. If you consider that someone may have
records across several different counties and jurisdictions you can see how this
would not be a good use of your time.
At the county level you would put in a request for public records with the court
retriever. This person would search the court house records and pull them
manually. This normally would take about 72 hours. Other public records from
other Texas agencies would follow the same type of procedure. The problem
becomes finding all the records you need from different places and then hoping
you didn’t miss anything.
The thing is these are all public records and they are freely available to
whoever requests them. The simple problem was finding them which was not a sure
thing.
Or at least it wasn’t. As the internet has grown in its breadth and width the
ability to find stuff online has increased exponentially. This includes public
records across the country and the state of Texas is no exception. As public
record files have been entered into computerized data bases it has become easier
to find information about someone with nothing more then a name, address, or
phone number.
Unfortunately there are thousands of these data bases and most governmental
agencies won’t give just anyone access to them. This is where the internet based
data lookup services come into play. For a nominal fee most of these services
will allow you to search through millions of Texas public records and return the
data right to your computer screen. This method leaves no stone un-turned and
you are virtually guaranteed to get every public record for that person that
exists.
Using an internet data service is quite simply the best and easiest way to find
Texas public records quickly. In fact, in the time it took you to read this you
could have already found the information you were looking for.
